Accurate prediction of T cell epitopes for personalized cancer vaccines

Personalized cancer vaccines have been recently spotlighted as a next generation anti-tumor immunotherapy. For developing effective personalized cancer vaccines, we first need to identify tumor mutanome information for each patient and then exactly predict neoepitopes that bind to patient’s HLA molecules and stimulate tumor-specific T cells. However, the current technology for prediction of T-cell epitopes is incomplete and inaccurate, limiting the efficacy of personalized cancer vaccines. In the present lecture, I will describe why the current technology for T-cell epitope prediction is inaccurate and how we can improve the accuracy of T-cell epitope prediction. In addition, I will briefly discuss the future perspective of personalized cancer vaccines.
